Audience

I wrote this paper with the idea that my audience was Americans from the age of about 16 to 25. The group of people that are still at the age where they kind of think they know what economics is but can't grasp it. This doesn't mean that I wrote the paper so that it can only be understood by this group of people, but my use the occasional aside that I think will cause humor and my choice of the two video is because of the audience i chose.

Reasoning behind the paper

My writing process for this paper started when I read through Shiva's chapter on economics and noticed that she had completely misused the word through out the entire chapter. This lead to the first rough draft I think I have ever read, which was a rant against the common misuse of the word economics. This lead to the choice of my audience to be some of the most passionate people in our society, college students. In an attempt to appeal to this audience I used the videos as comic relief (pathos) and the outside links as aids to explain terminology used or events referenced (logos). This lead to researching different economic theory and my discovery of the different names for trickle-down economics (proof that if you don't learn your lesson the first time history will repeat itself). My ethos I tried to bring about through showing that I have a basic knowledge of what economics is (which is all that is needed). I was very surprised that all of this spurred from a rant about economics. The most useful revisions that I tried to put into the paper was those from Patrick and Roshi7. Patrick told me that I need to drive home the idea that economics was a naturally driving force of all decisions. Roshi7 told me I need to break down my paragraphs and run-on sentences (taking the paper from a rant to a final draft). In grading the paper please pay attention to the logic behind my argument and how well I made my point.

Thesis

Economics is the driving force of all decisions that would exist with or without the study of economics. The study of economics simply puts words to an abstraction.
