Unit Two Portfolio

Page history last edited by PBworks 15 years, 5 months ago

Just got my internet back and I'm working on getting everything from my computer to online. Not that I have an excuse for not going to the library..

What is your thesis? How did this particular argument come about?

That supernatural belief is destructive to peaceful society. This argument came about because it is something I believe in strongly and research almost constantly, something I have lived my life by since I could think.

Who's your audience and what techniques do you use to make your writing speak to their concerns and interests?

My goal with this paper is not to change the minds of any christians but to show other secular people that there are HUGE reasons why we need to stop being so respectful and do something about the problems supernatural belief is causing in this world.

Upon reviewing your completed composition (and process), what aspect of your work (or it's process) most surprised you?

I was most surprised by how much more specific I could have gotten with certain topics in the paper.

Did you learn anything new while growing your composition? Explain.

I learned a lot about historical events involved in religious conflicts, such as the crusades. I had never bothered to research these before.

When you use secondary sources, do those sources contribute to ethos, logos, or pathos appeals?

It's hard not to say all three. Ethos, because they question the moral goodness of religion, logos because it questions the logic, and pathos because people with supernatural beliefs are often seeking comfort and to have that comfort challenged is hard.

When considering peer feedback as you revised your rough draft, which advice/suggestion/question/criticism/edit was most useful/helpful?

The advice to make it more specific and less like a blog.

On your final version, where would you like to see the most feedback and attention from graders?

I would like my readers to focus on the ideas behind the conventions.
