WE'RE ALL GENIUSES

Photobucket

I didnt come up with E=mc2 but i do have something that makes me a bit of a genius, we all do: our minds. When i say "minds" im talking about everything that contributes to it: our conscience, our brain, our memories, thoughts, emotions, and so on. Our minds hold memories of past lives and visons of future events. Something like premonitions and deja vu. But its so much more than just deva vu, its feeling like you did the same thing in two seperate lives. Now making this claim, i would have to agree that reincarnation exists, and I do. There has to be something said for the feelings we get when we're surrounded by familiarity, something greater than deja vu, something undescribeable.

I believe we can see into our past and into our future via the mind.

(Theres been moments where i think i might see someone and i do, where i regret saying something and then i lose my voice, where i think i know how the story ends and im right... i used to keep a log of all my "premonitions" i use that word lightly since they were more like gut feelings that turned out true, reading it use to make me feel crazy but not any more)

Scientist have been trying to understand the mind for centuries, trying to unlock its infinite abilities to fully grasp its power but never quite getting it. Theres been countless studies and experiments on all sorts of species hoping to find new conclusions, yet they've all been the same. We already know that chimpanzees are the closest species to us, blah blah blah. But what about our minds? We are the most developed species because of critical thinking, emotional connections, problem solving and so on. But we owe all that to our minds. However, the mind is much more capable than figuring out that 2+2=4 or whether a person likes you or not. The mind can tell you what you did in your past life and also whats going to happen in the future. In that sense of greater vision, we're all geniuses.

Now, to focus on deja vu for a moment. There are three different types of deja vu.The first is deja vecu which translates as "already lived"..."Déjà vécu refers to an experience involving more than just sight, which is why labeling it as "déjà vu" is usually inaccurate. The sense involves a great amount of detail, sensing that everything is just as it was before and a weird knowledge of what is going to be said or happen next." Charles Dickens says "We have all some experience of a feeling, that comes over us occasionally, of what we are saying and doing having been said and done before, in a remote time – of our having been surrounded, dim ages ago, by the same faces, objects, and circumstances – of our knowing perfectly what will be said next, as if we suddenly remember it!" (Dickens is one rad dude, i always liked what he had to say!) The second type is deja senti "This phenomenon specifies something "already felt." Unlike the implied precognition of déjà vécu, déjà senti is primarily or even exclusively a mental happening, has no precognitive aspects, and rarely if ever remains in the afflicted person's memory afterward." The third and the most amazing type is deja visite: "this experience is less common and involves an uncanny knowledge of a new place. The translation is "already visited." Here one may know his or her way around in a new town or landscape while at the same time knowing that this should not be possible." i felt deja visite when i went to spain, traveling through Granada and visiting The Alhambra. Its trippy.

I am a strong believer that deja vu is more than just a trick of the mind, its a clear sign that our minds are capable of harboring information that we are consciously unaware of. only when we encounter an extremely close reminder or reactant do those hidden thoughts and memories come to the surface. Most people brush them off, to them its just a weird coincidence, but theres no such thing, people should pay more attention to the little things that we "brush off" those are the things that are right in front of our faces, those are the things that might possibly matter.

Premonitions are slightly more complicated...and contrversial. They often, almost always, have been associated with supernatural or paranormal abilities, therefore they have often, almost always, never been believed. In this day and age, its a risky claim to make that you had a premonition, or that you think you can tell the future. Once you make that claim you're immediately labeled as crazy, on drugs, or crazy and on drugs. But how can we throw our such claims? A premonition is like a great masterpiece, a work of a lifetime, it only recieves that title once you die.

Famous Premonitions:

Otto von Bismarck predicted the beginning of the First World War, by saying (shortly before he died in 1898) to Mr. Ballen: "If there is ever another war in Europe, it will come out of some damned silly thing in the Balkans"

The novelist Mark Twain predicted that Halley's Comet would be seen on the day of his death, just as it was when he was born. Twain died weeks before Halley's 1910 appearance on May 18th.

The French apothecary and seer Nostradamus is also believed to have predicted his own death and the date in which his tomb would be opened.

Julius Caesar's wife Calpurnia had a dream the night before he died that he would get stabbed by a friend, and she warned him not to go

9/11 Premonitions

Another great aspect to all this stuff is Astrology. I really buy into this stuff, everything I've read about me has been true, but theres also been alot that hasnt been mention so when it comes to astrology i see both black and white. I believe it and yet I think people dont fit in perfectly to any sign. But has anyone or anything ever fit in perfectly to any category? Astrology is the subject of signs and characteristics is known to not have any true scientific truth. It is merely an educated guess made through research and studies of humans.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW:

do you believe in this stuff?

BECKY DOES!

Kristin is interested enough to think it's possible!

Mikaella believes it! :)

or do you not?

Becky's EDIT:

First off let me say that this is a wayyyy cool topic to do with an extreme amount of information to back it up. I am a big believer in the idea that the mind posseses a "sixth sense" and the reason that some people "see" things and others don't is because they exercise and believe in the idea they have it. Most who don't believe in it just ignore it and this sense goes unused.

^ this website kinda sorta explains my theory, its a little of topic with Deja Vu but it supports your idea of "premonitions". There is a statement in the text that i think is pretty powerful and may be useful to your essay "This is the entrance to the world of the unseen encounter, the unheard communication, the unfelt touch of someone from the spiritual world trying to make a connection with someone in the physical body."

It basically explains if we practice the right mindset than we can see or communicate or feel things that are not physical. We leave our body, persay and our mind makes connections with other people,or places.

I really really like this topic, i hope my support helps, im looking forward to seeing the end result.

::Kristin's Edit::

I like the way you add your opinions but also add in information to get the reader's on your level with what you believe in. The visuals also help! Albert Einstein was quite something. The mind is a crazy thing, some scientists could believe that the mind and thoughts all depend on what side of a person's brain develops more-so than someone elses. I don't believe that everything can be explained scientifically because there are so many things unexplainable. You can never really know what someone else is thinking. There are 'psychics' that advertise that they know what your future brings but they really have a 50/50 chance of knowing/guessing for sure. I think I've experienced deja vu but I can't remember off the top of my head what it was about. I've never had a premonition but that doesn't mean I won't have one in the future. The future is so unpredictable yet when people say that 'history repeats itself' it sometimes happens. I like how you bolded your main points, I think there could be a lot more ellaboration with more research but I also think that this is a very good argument and I agree with you/think you are a very interesting/good writer.

Mikaella:

I really like the topic you chose and you provided a lot of information, including brief mentioning of your own experiences. I would like to see more about past lives and how they affect the way you live your present life. I like that you pointed out how people are looked at and perceived if they claim that they experience premonitions. Maybe you should elaborate more on that and make that you're actual argument; that they're not crazy, and everyone has the ability, whether they use it or believe in it or not. You could include information on different cultures or people that have strong beliefs on past lives and spirituality. Overall it's a really good paper! :)

sam's edit:

sam gave me a verbal edit... during conversation he pointed out how i didnt mention anything about astrology. i dont remember exactly everything he said but it was more or less "its a cool topic" but dont quote me on that. thanks sam
